What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Two Ronnies

Comedians Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett, affectionately known as The Two Ronnies, had a comedy sketch TV show on BBC1 from the seventies through the nineties. I can’t imagine how they escaped my notice until now, but I’m certainly glad to have found them, however late to the game I am. These two geniuses of comedy crafted some of the wittiest wordplay I’ve ever heard.

The pair first met in 1963, and hit it off immediately. They began performing together, and by the late seventies, they were making appearances on shows like David Frost’s The Frost Report. However, the story goes that their really big break came when they were tapped to fill in during a technical breakdown during the 1970 BAFTA awards broadcast. Though they were both unprepared, they managed to pull it off, and they were given their own show.

I hope you enjoy these wonderful sketches!

I grew up with the Two Ronnies. They were a staple in my household. You’d be hard pressed to find a person over 50 in Britain who doesn’t know their Four Candles sketch. I know several people who can recite the whole thing.

Ah, take me back to my teenage years and Australian TV, which largely consisted in those days of Brit TV. We loved the Two Ronnies!

Neither my husband nor myself were aware of them. They are hilarious, and yes the word play is brilliant!
