I have profiled many glass artists over the years, but the work by Abby Kosberg (A.K.A. The Pampled Mousse) may be my favorite stained glass of all time. I’m always a sucker for art depicting women in water, and Kosberg combines elements of my favorite subject with glass to make wonderfully witty art!
The Minneapolis-based artist treats creativity as a daily habit (I can relate!). That practice led her to more seriously pursuing her stained glass art, which art form has helped her to heal.
“I started my career in the art world just over 10 years ago with hopes of one day working as a dignified museum curator. Since then, I sprinted through three degrees, many internships, lots of part-time jobs, & any curator-adjacent opportunity I could find—eventually working my way up to the title of ‘Executive Director & Curator’.
“Unfortunately, years of sprinting led to some serious burnout. I stepped down from my director role in early 2023 to recover from that burnout, prioritize my physical & mental health, and heal from some work-related trauma. I decided to focus on creativity as a daily habit, & through that practice, I started to more seriously teach myself stained glass.”

I think stained glass suits watery subjects, what with the transparency and reflections. I especially like the single floating ladies. I think those communicate relaxation.

Her work is delightful. I like how she writes “stalk me on Instagram” on her website (so I am!).
