Mizz Rio

Irish designer Mags Morgan (which is a perfectly cool name) designs alternative wedding costumes under her label Mizz Rio. I’m not sure why she wouldn’t just call her business Mags Morgan (which sounds to me much more high-end that Mizz Rio, which reminds me of a drag queen name), but there we are. Forever, marching to her own drum, Morgan believes that everyone deserves a wedding dress experience tailored just to them. Her female-led company gives every bride complete creative control, while offering some truly stunning designs as jumping-off points. But as amazing as their basic designs are, the label truly enjoys collaborating with their brides. What an amazing bespoke experience that must be! And for those in a hurry or intimidated by the creative collaborative design process, they offer some magnificent ready-to-wear styles as well.

The purpose of the bridal label Mizz Rio is to empower brides to “find their personal style and unhook themselves from the constraints of traditional bridalwear.” The company has also committed to keeping their designs ethical and sustainable, reducing their environmental impact while reducing fashion industry waste.

I confess I got a little bit carried away with the photos below, but the joy and confidence on these brides’ faces made me feel so happy for them, I just had to include them.

You can follow Mizz Rio on their website and also on Instagram and Facebook.

It must feel very goddess like to be wearing a beautiful garment that was designed collaboratively with just you and only you in mind. I imagine it gives the wearer a real boost of comfort and self-confidence on their big day.
