What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Stonewall Forever

Tomorrow marks the 56th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. While I firmly believe this history should be taught in schools, I don’t expect that will happen in my lifetime. Therefore, I thought we’d take a look at an outstanding documentary sponsored by The Center which explains, using interviews and archival footage, the history of the uprising.

I have had the good fortune to know personally a few of the iconic Stonewall Veterans, and I will forever be in their debt. No matter how the White House tries to erase our history, WE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.

You can follow The Center on their website and on YouTubeInstagramTikTok, and Facebook.

The history of Stonewall and other events in LGBTQ+ history ought to be taught, deserves to be taught, needs to be taught in schools. Depressingly, however, I agree with you that it’s an unattainable hope for now. We should be teaching the history of all kinds of activism and fights for progress because that is what inspires people to keep fighting to make things better for everyone and improve society but, of course, too many sectors of society want the opposite of that. This, therefore, is another reason to be thankful for resources like the internet and to access content like this documentary so that people can access this important history independent of their education systems, families or communities.
