*Does she ever!

Samara Joy

Today, it is my great pleasure to bring you the young American jazz singer Samara Joy. After hitting the jazz airwaves with her first album in 2021 for which she was named Best New Artist by JazzTimes.com, Samara’s second album shot to number one on the Billboard Jazz charts. This glorious 25-year-old singer and her old soul have received five Grammys to date, and I thoroughly expect her to keep it up.

The native New Yorker grew up in the Bronx surrounded by professional musicians, so it’s only natural that this amazingly-talented youngster would follow in their footsteps. Many of the musicians that I profile come to music this way, but Samara Joy is truly something special in her own right. When I heard her version of “Lush Life,” I sat in dumb disbelief, replaying it over and again. This is my favorite song to sing, and her recording truly blew my mind. HOW IS THAT A 25-YEAR OLD INSTRUMENT? What a blessing this talented child is. I hope to see lots more from her!

You can follow the incomparable, original Samara Joy on her website and on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.

She is amazing and obviously loves performing! As you know, she has received five Grammys so far, including Best New Artist to start and then wins for Best Jazz Vocal and Best Jazz Performance. I’ve been listening to her for awhile as she attended SUNY Purchase with sons of two of my friends (one a musician and producer in LA the other a photographer) but I listened to every video you put up.
