Today, we’re looking at the amazing retro-styled music by singer/songwriter Tabitha Meeks. He music and style have been described as “Norah Jones meets Nancy Sinatra,” and whatever you call it, it’s infectious and adorable. She’s known for blending 1960s and 1970s pop with modern wit. Her lyrics are magnificent, and her musicality is very much up to the task of keeping up with them.
“Words have power. How often do we think something into existence, or daydream about a better future? We scroll Zillow imagining our dream homes. We save Pinterest boards full of outfits we are not brave enough to wear yet. We sit in coffee shops talking about the life we hope we will have someday. [My music] is my version of that. It is my vision board, my journal entries, my manifesto. In each song, I am giving myself permission to enjoy the little things, hope for the big things, and believe it is all possible.” – Tabitha Meeks
After studying classical and jazz piano, Meeks came to Nashville to share her music. Armed with only a vintage Mellotron keyboard and a whole lot of style, she began making a name for herself immediately. The Mellotron, famous for its appearance in some of The Beatles’ most iconic recordings, is also a perfect symbol for Meeks’s style. Retro, lush, nostalgic, and very, very memorable.
