What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Squee of the Week

Although I have always been a big fan of little things (hi, honey!), cute generally doesn’t get it done for me.  However, these minuscule crocheted animals are so tiny and so perfect that I must make them mine.   This one actually extracted from me the exact sound “squee!”  Never really understood that before.  Turns out it’s a thing.

I can’t even imagine the dexterity (not to mention the superhero-like eyesight) involved in making these diminutive masterpieces.  The animals are made by a Vietnamese family of 5.  The name, Su Ami, is the nickname of the youngest member who is 10.  She apparently makes a lot of the company’s design decisions, and she’s doing a helluva job.

If I had buckets of money to burn, I’d keep a supply of them on my person at all times to drop in unsuspecting people’s pockets.  How happy would you be to find a micro-mini penguin in your pocket?  It’d sure make my day.

I’m in real trouble here.  This is going to be a very expensive habit.  I thought I could maybe resist, then I saw Hobbes.  Squee!  Damnit, there I go again.  Help!

Damn you, SuAmi!

  3. Dang, you NEED a trust fund to buy these things! I mean, adorably covetable but YIKES! Pricey! Much to my dismay I, too, “squeed”. Didn’t shatter anything, though… 😉
