What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Karl Lagerfeld’s Other Career

chanel 2You may recall that in December, I wrote about the bit of film confection that Karl Lagerfeld put together in connection with last year’s Métiers d’Art collection. Unbeknownst to me, he’s done it before!

YouTube recommended the video below, and I’ve now discovered a whole new universe of short Lagerfeld films in which to gleefully poke holes! Thank you, YouTube!

This one is about Coco’s years as a milliner before she began designing clothes. I have no idea what it means (maybe because it means nothing?), but it’s once again great to look at. It reminds me of one of my all-time favorite BBC series, “House of Eliott.” The series is only available on DVD, but it’s totally worth it if you’re interested in fashion or the design of the 1920s.

Since I liked the first two so much, I thought I’d do a marathon. Having wasted (yes, I said wasted) hours and hours last night absorbing as many of these bits of fluff as I could stand, I can sum them up by saying either 1. put on music you like and watch them as attractive moving wallpaper, or 2. save yourself and skip the rest of them entirely. I mentioned in the earlier Lagerfeld post that I thought I would be entertained watching him watch paint dry. Be careful what you wish for.

Well, that was odd. Interestingly awful, actually. A perfect fit for an unusual-feeling Friday.

Ugh. The catty comments remind me of grade 7 – an era I cannot say I have missed even for a moment. I couldn’t even get through this one. I’d rather watch paint dry I think!
