What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

The Ukuleles of Summer

UkuleleI know it’s not summer yet (in fact, New York barely seems to remember that it’s spring!), but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about sand and surf and fun. Therefore, here’s an incredibly adorable compilation of 1920’s and 1930’s songs featuring ukuleles from the lovely folks at Archive.org. (Sorry, there’s no way to embed the player. You actually have to click the link to get to the playlist. Just pretend it’s 2008.)

And if the twenties and thirties don’t thrill you, here is something a bit more contemporary.

Gotta love the uke, Donna. Thanks for the bright morning smile. And there is nothing wrong with press-and-play, ever.

Ih that little child playing, how adorable! His facial expressions, and screechy voice! bless him! He played the ukulele beautifully though, even if I did worry that he might have been a bit heavy handed plucking those strings! 🙂

Donna, I fell for the little guy just looking at his sweet face. Thanks for sharing.

Damn, if only I had a feathered-hem dress I could swish around the living room to that!

Adorable video. Once he learns to talk, he’ll be an amazing singer.
