What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Steel, Stone, and Bone

I came across the piece above on Art Blog Daily, and it stopped me cold. I was amazed by how natural the piece looked and by how naturally the materials were snuggled up to one another.

Self-taught Netherlands sculptor Marcel Manche grew up with an artist father, and his early exposure to a wide variety of art and artists helped form his beautiful, natural style. His merging of metals and organic materials make his sculptures look like they could have occurred in nature. According to his website, he works mainly in bronze, iron, stainless steel, stone and bone. I am really enjoying his work. Hope you do, too!

Wow! These really appeal to me. I love the fusion of the natural, rough texture with the smooth metal. It makes the pieces so tactile. I would love to own one of these.

PS I confess that I read Netherlands as Neanderthal (my eye sight to blame rather than my literacy). A neanderthal sculptor really would have been a scoop.
