Gabi Stickler
Mali the 5-year-old retriever and his teddy bear, aptly named Teddy, are the best of friends. Mali goes nowhere without Teddy, so his human, German photographer Gabi Stickler, takes them on daily walks and documents their adventures. The results are almost unbearably adorable. What a beautiful dog!

I’m such a hard-arse about most things but cute kids or animals bring out my marshmallow centre.

That’s an adorable way to put it! I’m more mushy about elderly parents and animals than I am about (strangers’) kids, but I take your meaning.

Well it’s not just any old kids. It’s the wee scrubby, sad-looking ones with big eyes watery with tears.

Very cute. If I did that with my dogs, the bear would have no head, no arms, no legs and the stuffing would be all over the house hidden in various places for months afterwords till I hinted it all down. We call stuffed animals carcasses around here.

How funny! Have you tried the flat animals (we call them roadkill toys) or does that take all the fun out of it?

I have tried it all. It just takes one mischievous dog to turn them all into ruffians. The softest things they get these days are socks with knots in them. They still seem to prefer rocks and sticks though. So around my house, look to see if the sock has a knot in it cuz it is the dogs…if not…it probably has holes in it now and will get a knot cuz it is now the dogs. Sometimes they get an empty water bottle put into the sock so they can drive me crazy with the noise.

These days their toys consist of rocks and sticks like the mean dog wearing combat boots in the Bedtime for Francis stories.

Okay, but do you dress them in combat boots? If you’re going to commit, you should commit all the way.

Only the chihuahuas. Doc Martins are their flavor of choice. I bought the border collie them boots on your post yesterday…not quite combat but close. The westside is a hippie and prefers barefoot.

That reminds me of that dog meme where it says…who’s awesome….you’re awesome! Which moves my brain to the kitty hanging from the tree saying…hang in there. He he. Thanks!
