Thank you, internet!
Everybody knows that pets are the real reason for the internet. Puppy pictures, cat memes, screaming goat videos, without animals the internet would just consist of angry political rants, shopping, and porn.
And in this, our most anxious-making election cycle ever (which at this point is stressing out the entire world, not just the Americans), it’s a relief to have something upon which we can all agree. So today, we’re just enjoying fantastic pictures of put-upon animals in ridiculous costumes.
Dear animals,
We appreciate your sacrifice. Thanks for taking one for the team.
Love and hugs,
Me
I thought this was a good way to kick off my week-long series of Halloween-inspired posts. There’s big fun ahead!

Oh my goodness! So adorable. I need to show my kids. We were at a Harry Potter Festival yesterday and saw a dog wearing the harness that gives it two additional heads. Lots of people were taking photos.

I saw one of those three-headed costumes in person once, too, but it seemed to be really freaking out the head in the middle. He kept snarling and snapping at the other two. I imagine I’d react similarly.

Isn’t that the most perfect facial expression? I really love that one, too. The Mother Theresa cat also made me very happy.

You’ve outdone yourself. And can expect hate mail from Peta.

Can’t please everybody. . . Honestly, I am waiting for the poorly-spelled hate mail from pets!

Yes now that there is voice control software their “no opposable thumbs” excuse has lost credibility. I am pretty sure my pets were giving you (and me) the side eye while I laughed aloud at some of these photos.

Perfect! A few years ago, I dressed our guinea pigs, Simon (had a cowlick that made his hair look like Simon Cowell) and Pig Newton, as bugs – Newt as a ladybug and Simon as a spider. I made the costumes and, I must say, as an arachnophobe, when I got the yarn-wrapped wire leg harness on Simon, he scared me!

That’s fantastic! And their names are wonderful. Pig Newton. So good!

How fantastic are those pugs? I never liked them before, but they seem to have taken over the internet, and I can feel my resolve melting away.
