What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

The Really Great Pumpkin

As much time as I spend writing about various types of art, one of the things to which I most look forward are my annual pumpkin decorating posts. (F.Y.I., Easter eggs also make me tingly.) This makes no sense. They’re orange (I despise orange), they’re messy, they smell weird, and then you have to throw them away. Nothing about this appeals to me, but I am nonetheless jazzed when interesting pumpkin carving photos start to appear in my feed. I guess I’m a little more  of a basic bitch than I thought.

Anyway, here’s this year’s crop from DeviantArt, and they’re absolutely astounding. Happy carving!

  4. Pumpkins like these make me feel inadequate. Last year I carved a My Little Pony that looked like it was on the floor of an abattoir. Today I carved a pumpkin with my preschool class and I had zero patience just producing a basic face. No way could I find it in me to do something even a smidgen this creative.
