What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

OMG – OMD!

Eighties alternative music masters Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys have still got it! Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD to their fans) has a new album, and it’s synth heaven! I was a big fan of theirs in the eighties, but it never occurred to me that they’d keep at it. The album is called Bauhaus Staircase, and it’s full of yummy new stuff. The music videos are very cool, too!

Most synth pop music sounds pretty generic to me these days. There are a few standouts (like Daft Punk), but it’s mostly a sea of electronic noise. But there’s something so instantly recognizable about OMD’s music, I feel like I would have known them anywhere. And though it feels current, I love that on the new album, they’ve stayed true to their alternative music roots.

You can follow OMD on their website and on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

The video below should auto play the entire album, though you may need to watch on YouTube for the autoplay feature to work.
