Paris-based fashion label Olympia Le-Tan creates limited-edition embroidered clutch purses that are making me go all weak in the knees (and their prices are giving me the vapors). The purses are embroidered depicting a seriously wide range of cultural references, both contemporary and historical. Literature, architecture, iconic cities, film, art, music, flora and fauna all serve as inspiration for the label’s marvelous items. It’s no wonder that luxury stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus carry them. And their beautiful artist-themed purses are even carried in the Met Museum Store!
Olympia Le-Tan is best known for their whimsy but also for their durability and quality construction, not something I expected! I’m sure the high price tag is warranted, so I’ll have to content myself with drooling over pictures of the amazing clutches. Someone wrote that they could justify spending that much because in addition to being wearable art, the pieces also make great conversation pieces that double as home decor. Clever!
