Storai and Saeeda are budding jewelers and artist in Kabul AND THEY ARE WOMEN.

They are students of the Turquoise Mountain Institute, which trains Afghani women in traditional Afghan crafts. Successful students graduate with a City & Guilds accreditation, and are helped to set up businesses of their own.  The jewelry is lovely, but the true beauty here for me is the look of renewed hope on these young women’s faces.  Their work and that of other Turquoise Mountain graduates can be purchased here:
