Danny Brewer learned guitar from his musically-inclined construction worker dad, he learned song writing by trial and error and a long series of wonderful collaborations, and he learned about heartbreak from the usual sources. The combination is a magical sort of harmonic convergence. His voice isn’t the strongest, his music isn’t the most complicated or challenging, but the overall effect is quite lovely, and his lyrics are really thoughtful and catchy as hell.
“Babylon”
she is a dollar bill,
she’s cheap but she’s dressed to kill
she’ll dance with you brother if you have the will. Her voice on the radio
a tune everybody knows
she’s undercover and wearing no clothesoh babylon you are a jewel,
always shiny and new
Oh babylon you are so cruel still we pursue
We’re chasing you downCan you hear the siren song?
I’m tempted to sing along,
to join in the choir like there’s nothing wrongyou’ve got her scent on you,
can you smell her on me too?
she is seductive, she knows how to wooshe’s in every neon light
no question of wrong or right
Judas will kiss you he don’t come to fight…
You can read more about him on his website, but I really think all you need to know you can get from his nakedly emotional music. This is Besides Daniel. If it speaks to you as it does to me, you can buy it on Amazon, iTunes, or Bandcamp.

Psst… if there’s a video it’s not displaying. The lyrics stand alone as poetry. Really nice. 🙂

There are 5 videos, and I can see them on all my devices. How odd. The lyrics really are pretty, aren’t they? Here’s the YouTube link to that recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnHmABCD7Uo
