Land Octopus?!?

I first tumbled to Brian Kesinger‘s drawing on ifckr’s blog. I clearly needed to know more, so I looked him up, and I’m so very glad I did!

Currently employed as a story artist at Walt Disney animation studios, Kesinger is also the author of two glorious-looking books which I would classify as being too good for children. His books center around two main characters, “independent girl-about-town Victoria Psismall and her pet land octopus Otto.” I want a pet land octopus, too! The illustrations are steam-punkish in tone and exhibit a mind-blowing level of skill and wit and taste.

I’m thrilled to include a few of the illustrations from his books alongside some of his other wonderfully clever and gorgeous art works below. And you can purchase both of his books and a few of his other works in his Etsy shop!

  1. For reasons too dull to explain, my other siblings and I always alert our youngest brother to anything cool octopus related. Some oneupmanship has ensued. I’m pretty sure I will be this week’s winner when I send him this link.
