I realize it’s a little weird that I get such a kick out of animals in costumes (and I’ve heard from at least one reader that some people consider it disrespectful to the animals), but I have made my peace with that. Look at this guy! This is Paddington, the wonderfully photogenic Shar Pei companion and muse of Tasmanian photographer Annie Jacob. Although he’s only five, he always plays his very varied parts with complete commitment and stoicism. He’s like the Meryl Streep of the canine world. Or he’s just really good at sitting still. Come to think of it, maybe that’s Meryl’s secret, too. I’m going to have to think more about this. In the meantime, enjoy Paddington!
