One of the downsides of being a military brat is that this$h!+ always chokes me up.

It choked me up, too, and I was just a regular brat.

Thank you for the special post. The remembrances and events mean a lot to all the veterans who may otherwise be forgotten or not appreciated.

I called my dad to say happy Veteran’s Day, and he actually laughed. He said no one does that anymore. Sad.

I didn’t realise Americans had what we in Australia call Remembrance Day also. I served with your lot in various unpleasant places, always happy for the company when things got nasty. Seeing your PTSD commenter I think I may not be alone in feeling this, and I hope you understand, but I would like just one day a year where I could forget.
Happy Veterans Day

That is a brilliant idea. I wish I could make that happen for you.
I live on a predominantly-Irish little fishing island in New York, so here, St. Patrick’s Day is the closest to a day of forgetting that we’ve got. (We call it St. Blackout’s day.) Not exactly the same thing, though, is it?
Wishing you peace and a pint.

Kilkenny is like drinking velvet but I am more inclined to sip a Hendricks G&T or Campari on ice these days. Thank you for your wishes.
