SkyGoodies
Etsy seller SkyGoodies has designed the most adorable paper creations that you put together yourself. Suitable for both children and adults, I think they would make lovely gifts. A few are shipped as kits, most are sold as downloadable color PDFs, and they all look like great fun!
They offer a wonderful range of items from tiny figural calendars like the piano above, gift boxes, ornaments, photo frames, and other small, charming giftables. I got curious about how they started, and I’m glad I asked. The husband and wife duo, Amit and Misha, had built a thriving design and technology services business, but they felt like they needed a more personal creative project for fun. So they designed a few DIY templates and put them up for sale in their Etsy store, not expecting much return.
“What followed was a series of unexpected features, loads of lovely reviews and letters from customers all over the world, and a juicy amount of money from online sales. Even Babble and ThisisColossal named our typewriter calendars their favorite for 2014… This was exactly what we wanted to do: combine our love of art and paper, with an original product which has a high emotional attachment.”
Largely inspired by Indian truck art, their designs are like nothing I’ve ever seen. Here’s what they had to say about the origins of their unique style:
“India is so full of color and wild contrasts, and of emotion; we want to bring the same happy colors and emotions to our work. There is beauty in every direction, even in the midst of chaos. There is a sea of people who smile, in spite of having tough lives where even basic necessities are not met. That is the spirit we wish to capture in our work. We choose to express it in wild, bright and joyful colors and patterns.”
The whole interview was so fascinating, I thought you might want to give it a read. It’s especially useful for those considering selling their art in an Etsy shop. Their About page is quite illuminating, too.
Enjoy!

They really are adorable. I think it’s so fascinating how good they are at thinking in 3 dimensions, then translating that to 1. Really creative!
