Guo Pei Spring 2018
I’m editing this week, so I only have time for a quickie… (Oh, behave.) On days like this, sometimes the craziest fashion is just the thing! This is the Spring 2018 collection by visionary nutball designer Guo Pei, and I can’t get enough!
I know it’s all way over the top ridiculous, but if you think of it as sculpture, her designs seem much less crazy. And if you’re worried that she’s not selling anything, don’t. Her Summer collections are always eminently wearable.
Anyway, I’ve got to run. Thank goodness I’m not wearing those shoes!
You can see the entire wacky collection on Vogue, but I really recommend you watch them in motion in the video below. They’re kind of a big deal.

I never have understood spending money and time designing on something so out there that no one in their right mind would wear. How ever…they are artistic.

I know what you mean, but art for art’s sake does appeal to me.

I LOVE these! I love how fashion has really broken the barrier and shown people that it is in fact art. ❤

These designs made me start humming ‘Defying Gravity’. I’m in the waiting room of an orthodontist so I hope the other waiting parents are enjoying the musical interlude.

That’s fantastic! Can I get you to come be my musak when I’m in a waiting room?

Very artistic indeed… some like sculptures, some like light fixtures – but *none* like clothes, at least IMHO! Fun to look at though!!

They sure are fun to look at! I love how they move. I think that’s a big part of her artistry.

These look like what the women in the Capitol wear in the Hunger Games movies.

Reblogged this on Nicolai Cull and commented:
The yellow dress, it’s, so beautiful and yet like a cage.

yes, certainly sculpture… but I can’t think of an event I’d go to that wearing such a dress would be appropriate.

I honestly think the Met Gala is the only event I’ve ever heard of where you could wear such things. Fun to dream, though! Also, I imagine any one of them would be appropriate in the Capitol! (http://blog.style-geek.net/2012/03/top-10-tuesday-capitols-future-fashions.html)
