Marta Klonowska/Berengo Studio
If I hadn’t seen it with my own two eyes, I never would have believed that glass could look fluffy, but Düsseldorf-based glass artist Marta Klonowska has managed it! By working small, similarly-colored shards and slivers of glass into a wire frame, the artist manages to achieve an effect like fur. And the subtle variations in color really add to the soft look of the pieces.
Many of Klonowska’s pieces are based on animals found in old paintings. I’d love to see the look on the faces of the painters if they saw how their animals had been reinterpreted!
You can see more of Klonowska’s impressive work on the Lorch+Seidel Contemporary Gallery website.

How completely compelling. You’re right that it’s astounding that glass can look fluffy. I’d be so tempted to touch these pieces. The white one with the long ears makes me think of the crystal foxes in The Last Jedi. My husband and kids would groan that I don’t know what they are properly called. So I’m thinking we need a Glass Menagerie Wing in our personal collection.

Hm. Interesting! By the way, I had to cancel our trip to Portland (for good reasons). Sorry we won’t see you.

Unbelievable! It must take her ages to do one of them! Even if I had the know-how, I would *never* have the patience.
