Buenos Aires-based artist Hugo Horita creates animal sculptures from wood and yarn that I find thoroughly lovable. Though his training is in illustration, the artist wanted to do something more tactile, more handmade. The animal sculptures he creates using recycled materials certainly fit that mission. In addition to their wonderfully-accurate musculature, Horita often adds charming faces and anthropomorphic touches, making each of his animals come to life in wonderfully whimsical ways.

These are wonderful. The artist has found the perfect balance between simplified forms and detail that creates character. I think they are all charming but I think my favourites are the jackalope and the crab.
