These wedding photos are bad. I might have undersold that a little.  These “typical Russian wedding photos” on EatLiver.com are, in fact, some of the worst couple photos ever taken.  But there’s something so compelling about the faces, and something so endearingly childlike about the doofy use of “special” effects and poses that I have to admire their spirit and optimism.  It’s like whoever designed them is from another planet and has discovered human joy but hasn’t yet learned about taste.  And in the less joyful ones (see, for example, the unamused bride below), I am drawn in even more by the subjects’ visceral misery.   Also they’re a little funny.

And so, in spite of their almost uniform ugliness, I declare them today’s One Beautiful Thing.  Deal with it.
