Now here’s something you don’t see every day! Amazing pirate chiminea by UniqueBurners
Et·som·ni·a (/etˈsämnēə/), noun, 1. a sleep disorder caused by obsessive Etsy browsing. 2. the surprising arrival of weird handmade merchandise ordered when one is only half conscious. (True story.)

If you’re wondering why this week’s theme is pirates, there is no reason. I just felt like it. And I love nearly everything I found! Sure, the term “pirate” is pretty loosely thrown around on Etsy, encompassing everything from furniture to clothing to prayer candles to whatever this is. My biggest criticism of the pirate booty was that many of the prices are a bit ridiculous. And by a bit, I mean a lot. Of course, if your budget is more Smee than Hook, there are many awesome, more attainable, more reasonably-priced items, too. Predictably, though, it is really the pricey stuff that I love the best.
As usual, links to the items for sale appear below each picture. For more Etsy fun, check out all my weekly Etsomnia™ posts!

This particular pirate seems a little anxious to get off the ship (and out of the costume). By PetKrewe, who also sells a cat version, but lost their nerve after the hat

Look at those pupils! I think somebody may have sampled the mushrooms.

Even pirates are not so cool that they’re immune to (expensive) derpery.

Unbelievablly fantastic pirate tree house. By TinyTownStudios whose work is so awesome, it might need its own post

Steampunk pirate angel lamp, perfect for your nightstand. Because there’s nothing like waking up to a lamp that makes you think you died in your sleep.

His mom is going to be so pissed when she finds out he made a “Playa” pirate coat out of her comforter. He might even get kicked out of the basement!

Looks like someone’s been hitting the 151 a little too hard.

Pirate-themed… wait for it… baptism set. You heard it here first. And, presumably, last.

Careful, girl. You know he’s known for chasing tail. By CrimsonMuse

We all go through the phase when we fall for the bad boys. Luckily, these are just badly-dressed boys.

I don’t need it. I wouldn’t wear it. But I confess I am still enamored of it. By MorticiaSnow

This fabulous solid gold triple skull ring is so gorgeous it makes me reconsider a career in piracy! By DeMerJewelry about whom I have waxed poetic before

I’ll bet DeNiro’s character in Stardust would have loved this! He really did need some style advice.

Love the doggie costume – hahaha so cute! I’m eyeing the eye patch because I wanted to bling one out when I have to occasionally where them. The one pictured is a bit overkill but would fit right into a Mardi Gras themed event. 😉

You could easily make your own belonged-out eye patch. Hot glue to the rescue!

Yup I could that and thought about it but got lazy. I just may go to the local craft store to get some bling (already have the hot glue gun) and see what I can come up with.

Love the pirate knuckledusters. They are like a camp version of the things gang members sported in my home town growing up. That tree house is Ah-May-Zing! I want to go and set up a secret club in it. Not much in the way of pirate treasure here. Most of it needs dumped in Davy Jones’ locker.

“He’s known for chasing tail.” :::snicker::: And oh my, the baptism set… no words. That tree house is beyond awesome.

The tree house is killing me! They’re in Houston, so feel free to go snoop and report back! I’m actually writing a feature on them, but there’s so much to say, I have to stick a pin in it until I have more time.

I want the gold skull with the ruby eyes. (Ruby is my birthstone and I do have a birthday this year.) I want to be a pirate. Can’t figure out how to get there from here but I haven’t given up yet.

This isn’t a passing thing. When I was eight I decided I wanted to write a biography of Jean Lafitte. I also read biographies of Anne Bonny and Mary Read. You’d think after almost 50 years I would have gotten further with this. Maybe I should go buy a bottle of rum.

We would. And I have a head start because I didn’t do a good job removing my mascara last night.

Plus I am already known for my scary hair. Maybe I’ve made more progress on being a pirate than I realized.
