No time for blathering on today. It’s been a nutty week. I’ll do better next week, I hope. In the meantime, here are two of my comedy idols, Tim Conway and Harvey Korman (along with the magnificent Carol Burnett) barely holding it together in a few of my favorite sketches from The Carol Burnett Show. I read that Conway would have perfect rehearsals and then when the cameras went live his job was to destroy Harvey and everyone else. What a scamp! The results were pure comedy gold.
I really recommend you follow The Carol Burnett Show Official YouTube channel. It’s fantastic!

Thank you for featuring these talented and hilarious performers! I frequently watch reruns of The Carol Burnett Show, and it holds up so well. Carol Burnett is a remarkable person and her talent knows no bounds. She sings, she is hilarious, she has a wry take on life and men/women…I just love her. She was definitely a trailblazer for women in comedy. I think she is a remarkable person as well as a performer; she is no stranger to tragedy in her personal life.
I am also often struck by Harvey Korman’s manifold comedic talents (and the dynamic with Carol). Tim Conway had a more understated vibe. I remember going to see ‘The Apple Dumpling Gang’ with Tim Conway and Don Knotts. I remember us laughing so hard. Not sure if I’d still think it was that funny now, but it’s a good memory.

It’s surprising, but true. I think it’s because on The Carol Burnett Show, they never punched down for their humor.
